Financial Markets and the Role of Standards

Follow-up from the BIS Foresight project “The Future of Computer Trading in Financial Markets” Roundtable Meeting - 8th January 2013 - Room 2.40 MBS West, Manchester Business School, University of Manchester

The aim is to discuss the key issues and priority areas in relation to financial markets and the role of standards. The questions that will be addressed include:

· What are the challenges in improving our understanding on how financial markets operate?

· What are the issues in dealing with financial markets currently? Is market data easily and readily available? What else is needed to standardise the transactional aspects?

· What is the role of standardisation in relation to financial markets but also, more broadly in relation to financial markets?
